Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and Harry Connick Jr. serenade, and the scent of cinnamon wafts through the air as shoppers sift through the pretty floral dresses, blouses and cotton T's, some sporting playful hula girls. All of the clothing is designed and made exclusively in Hawaii. The local newspaper describes Cinnamon Girl's contemporary dresses as "a cross between the floral romantic look of Laura Ashley and the edginess of Betsey Johnson." And the soft feminine look has caught on rapidly. Fujita now has four Cinnamon Girl boutiques open in Hawaii, and success has her thinking about expanding to the mainland.
"We love the look and inspirations Compendium products have to offer," said Lesli Okamura, buyer for Cinnamon Girl. "We were really attracted by the simple, clean look of the books, and their nice warm colors, which fit our stores perfectly." Customers love the simple designs and inspirational phrases, she said. Many purchase the books as gifts for friends, family and co-workers. "And of course many buy them for themselves," Okamura said. Cinnamon Girl's floral dresses are designed to ignite a smile and celebrate the joy and fun in life. Just like Compendium’s products. |
